The Beat Goes On with Paul Crane

Paul started out in the industry totally by accident back in 1992 when he was a nightclub bouncer at a great club called “Cairo’s” based in Swindon. There was a mix-up with the DJ & Management of the club on this night where he was working which resulted in a miscommunication between the DJ not turning up for the night. Paul’ who was already heavily into his music at the time was always practicing at home on his mixer and volunteered to cover as the DJ for the night.

With little to no other options left to cover for the night, the club management reluctantly let Paul play the night, and the rest is history. Not only did Paul do a great job, but the club offered him a regular Thursday slot and eventually through his popularity he worked his way up at the club to become the main Saturday Night resident DJ.

Moving forward just short of five glorious years as the resident DJ at Cairo’s he had already made a name for himself on the circuit, and this resulted in him playing at many other different clubs around Berkshire. He also did another short-term residency at the in-house nightclub based at The Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell.

However, Paul had always held a passion for radio and wanted to get into broadcasting and after many years on the club circuit, he eventually dipped his toe into Hospital Radio and has never looked back since.

Years later after working at several radio stations, Paul became very flustered with some of the un-reasonable controls and the constant false lies & promises that so many of the other station owners tried to impose on both him and some of the other presenters by not allowing them to have the musical freedom that they desired, so he decided that the only way to have this control was to start his very own station.

It was then that both he and his incredible wife Frances decided that the only way to retain that freedom and more importantly also offer that same freedom to other presenters who were also suffering the same fate, was to set up a Brand-New Station themselves, and the rest is history.

As you can already hear Sanctuary Radio is now very much alive and broadcasting around the world 24/7 and sounding fantastic and has firmly established itself within the radio industry with many huge names already on-board.

Starting up a station is just the beginning however, because to have a great station you must surround yourself with the best team to help you, and lucky for Paul & Frances they had no problem finding great like-minded Presenters who also believed in what they were building.

Without THAT TEAM, Sanctuary Radio would NOT be the station it is today, and both Paul & Frances have always said that they will never forget their incredible team that helped make Sanctuary Radio into the great station it is today.
